Elevating you to new heights

SEO is one of those buzzwordy acronyms you hear all the time; but what does it actually mean? Simply put, it’s about making sure your website has the best chance of appearing on the first page of search engine results. This is done through how your website performs, and what the content on your website says. With Boutique Web Design’s range of SEO packages, we can get you moving and growing in the right direction.

Practicality over Promises

You may get pitched “we can get you to #1 on Google” a lot. We’re not going to pitch that to you. Is that bad business? That we’re not going to promise you the top spot on Google?

Potentially, but we simply can’t promise that. Search engine marketing is an incredibly competitive landscape, with a multitude of factors determining how your website will be “ranked” by search engines. The top spot is definitely achievable, but not guaranteed.

We also can’t promise you instant results, like others may. This is because SEO can be a slow burner; sure, there’s low hanging fruit all around, quick wins, and room for rapid expansions in niches, but in a lot of cases, you need to allow around 6 months on average for results to really show.

So we won’t promise you anything that we can’t deliver. However, what we can promise is continuous improvement, practicality and transparency over the course of your SEO package.

We’ll work hard on your content, improve the technical aspects of your website, as well as updating you on a rolling basis as to what we’ve done, what that’s produced, and what opportunities we’ve identified to keep moving forwards.

What can influence my seO?

Search engine marketing can be a bit of a tricky beast sometimes, with over 200 factors influencing your SEO on Google alone. Whilst it seems like a lot to worry about, a large number are taken care of via best practice and proper structuring. We’d love to explain all 200+ factors to you, but for now, we’ve focused on 6 of the most important.

Keywords
seo

Search queries are all about relevance to the user, so in the most simple of terms, you need to tell search engines exactly what it is you do.

This comes through your keyword selection, the usage of those keywords, and the overall ‘density’ of them on your site.

Quality

But, keywords alone simply aren’t enough. We need to take those chosen keywords and distill them into quality, humanised content.

Your content needs to be relevant and substantial, as well as being able to offer originality. Imagine it as if you were speaking to your user.

EEAT

Experience, expertise, authoritativeness, trustworthiness is paramount in an age of “fake news” and AI generated content.

Essentially, your content needs to sound, look, and feel as if it’s coming from first hand experience and a place of trust, rather than “second hand”.

Backlinks

Originally, the scholars who made Google ranked sites based on how many people had “cited” their website, via linking back to it.

Nowadays, it’s a bit more complex than that, but having other sites linking back to your site remains a crucial part of the SEO ecosystem.

Design

Design is important, we know as much. However, we also need to make our design easy to read and easy to digest via how we group our content.

It’s not rocket science, it’s simply about best practice and making sure users and search engine robots can easily navigate your website.

Experience

This is where it all ties together; search engines will look to see how a user experiences your website. Was their question answered?

Providing a quick loading website, chock full of relevant content will ensure you’re offering a five-star experience to your users every time.

How does AI affect SEO?

A hot topic with plenty of takes on the subject, so here’s ours; AI, ChatGPT and all of their friends are amazing tools. They can quickly write, simplify and generate data.

This means content, even SEO-led content, can be written amazingly quickly. Job done, bada bing, bada boom!

Well, not quite. Whilst AI tools can be incredibly useful as a guideline or a framework for content, or even idea generation, we feel that the only way to get the best out of content is for it to be written by a human. Someone who’s taken the time to understand your business, your tone of voice, as well as the important finer details that an AI just simply doesn’t understand.

In fact, we asked ChatGPT to simplify the above paragraph, and it quickly responded with:

“AI tools can provide helpful guidelines and generate ideas for content, but we believe the best content comes from humans who understand your business, tone, and specific details that AI cannot grasp.”

– ChatGPT 3.5, 2023

Which is incredibly useful, and when we prompted it further, asking if it agreed with that statement, it said (amongst other things) that human-created content “often excels in creativity, emotional connection, and understanding nuanced or industry-specific information”.

So here’s our promise to you; we will not use AI or ChatGPT content in anything we do, content-wise. Your content on your website will be written from scratch, with a human who excels in creativity and connection behind the keyboard.
